Biographies of board members

Chairman, Peter Wilson, Non-Executive Director

Peter Wilson joined Warburg Pincus in 2005 and leads the firm's European energy and financial services investment activities. Previously, Mr. Wilson spent nine years at Electra Partners, where he was a founder director of the Electra European Fund. Prior to that, he worked as a consultant with Boston Consulting Group. Mr. Wilson graduated with an M.A. in engineering, economics and management from Oxford University and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Peter is a non-executive Director of SafetyKleen Europe Ltd.

Peder Bratt, Non-Executive Director

Peder Bratt has been with Warburg Pincus since 2008 and is involved primarily with the firm's investment activities in the energy sector. He received a B.B.A. (siviløkonom) from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH) and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus he was a consultant at McKinsey & Company. Peder is a non-executive Director of Fairfield Energy Ltd. and Spectraseis AG.

Scott Kerr, Non-Executive Director

Has over 32 years experience from technical and leadership positions in the oil & gas industry with Atlantic Richfield (Arco), BP and Norwegian Energy Company (Noreco). Scott has held a variety of global positions in upstream oil and gas focusing on exploration, developments and development planning. Scott moved to Norway in 2003 as Managing Director for BP in Norway and left BP in 2005 to found Noreco, an oil and gas company backed by private equity. He led Noreco until early 2011 and is currently CEO of Sevan Drilling, an ultra-deep water drilling specialist. Scott is also a Non-Executive Director of Dolphin Group and has a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Wyoming.

Jan Vollset, Non-Executive Director

Jan Vollset has more than 34 years of technical and managerial experience within the petroleum industry. His career started with the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate where he held various technical and managerial positions for more than 10 years and for 2 years as a Special Advisor to NORAD. In early 1990 he joined Statoil where he was Chief Exploration Geologist for 6 years, advising and quality assuring exploration projects worldwide. He has also been BP/Statoil Alliance Exploration Manager for Nigeria. The last 6 years with Statoil he was Vice President Global Exploration, New Opportunities. Jan has been advisor to the Commissioner of Mines at Svalbard and member of the board of NORSAR. From 2010 he has offered geological consultancy work in petroleum exploration for the oil and gas industry, governments, organizations etc. Jan has a M.Sc. in geology from University of Oslo.

John R. Pickard, Executive Director

Has over 35 years experience from technical and leadership positions in the oil & gas industry with BP and Canamens. John first came to Norway in 1976. From 1996 he held different positions on the BP Norway leadership team, primarily focused on acreage access, exploration, appraisal and field development. In 2002 he took a secondment to the leadership team of the Norwegian Oil Industry Association (OLF). He was responsible for managing, Skarv and Ormen Lange through Concept Select stage, delivering the PDO for the unitised Skarv/Idun fields. In 2007 John co-founded Canamens Ltd, a new oil company backed by private equity, as VP Exploration. He is also a non-executive Director of Dolphin Group. John has an MA in Geology from Oxford University.

Samuel R. Johnson, Executive Director

Brings over 33 years of international exploration, technology and production experience to the team. Sam has held a variety of global positions during his 29-year career in BP, including Norway exploration for the 16th and 17th Licence Rounds and R&D technology examining reservoir systems. His last role in BP was Director of Geology responsible for compiling the Appraisal and Development Geology Handbook and managing the Structural, Sedimentology & Stratigraphy, Biostratigraphy and Petroleum Systems networks. Recently, he has been the Chief Geoscientist for Canamens Energy with exploration interests in Kazakhstan, Morocco and a UK North Sea appraisal project. Sam has a BSc in Geology from the University of Utah.
